Collaboration

Artist Rosemary Feit Covey and Meisha Bosma, the director of BosmaDance, have been collaborating on projects for the last two years.  Although each creates in a different art form, Covey and Bosma speak in a common conceptual language.  Working  together, art and dance are combined to form interactive installation pieces where art comes to life both in staged formal events and as a community experience . The dance and art work inspire one another, building a bridge that overcomes the gulf between each medium and creates an artistic fusion.

Virginia Commission for the ArtsPerformance May 2009
Funded by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, Alexandria Commission for the Arts, Alexandria Performing Arts Association and individual donors, Rosemary Feit Covey and BosmaDance  are  proud to announce UTOPIA, a community-based project exploring fear and hope as it relates to life and death issues. With original music by Alex Jackson, visual design by Rosemary Feit Covey, and choreography by Bosma, nothere-colorUTOPIA is an evening-length work that will challenge the artists, community members and audiences in new and unusual ways.  UTOPIA brings together artists that rarely have the opportunity to create and perform together.  Partnering with Smith Farm Cancer Center for Healing and the Arts, in Adams Morgan in DC and based on the words and emotions of actual patients, UTOPIA will forge new artistic relationships within the community and empower audiences to explore their own perceptions of fear and hope.

House of Cards

House of CardsHouse of Cards is a female duet inspired by the wood engravings of artist Rosemary Feit Covey. Performed by dancers Alice Wylie and Francesca Jandasek, the work is a delicate balancing act between two women attempting to stand up straight with one another.

Maintaining a sensual and physical connection, two pairs of legs and arms intertwine as one; spikes of a skirt get in the way; uncertainty builds tension. House of Cards is a provoking look at how we balance in relationships and with ourselves. Presented by Bosma Dance.
